Annual HOA fees due for homeowners

January 31 is the deadline to pay Lakewood Homeowner Association fees and receive a 5 percent discount.

Lakewood’s dues, which increased 5 percent this year to keep up with expenses, remain among the lowest of homeowners’ associations in the area. Other HOAs charge similar amounts for dues but have fewer common areas to maintain such as the pool, tennis courts, park land and open areas.

“The HOA board has worked hard to maintain our community with the amenities that everyone enjoys,” said Keith McGill, chair of the Lakewood HOA board. “The dues help ensure that our HOA has adequate funds to provide everyone in Lakewood with the features that people expect.”

This year homeowners also were sent a statement from Truist Bank that gives options for paying your dues online, through an automatic draft or with a credit card. If you do not want to use the Truist Bank options, you may send your payment directly to the HOA office or drop your fee into the clubhouse drop slot at 7317 Lakewood Drive. The HOA office mailing address is P.O. Box 27674, Austin, Texas 78755. Call the office with any questions at 512-345-8367. Find more information here.

Fall Fest returns Sunday, Nov. 19

Lakewood’s second annual fall festival is coming soon! Mark your calendars for 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 19, at the HOA park (near the pool and tennis courts). Face painting for the kids, snacks and goodies, and more fun things are planned. Watch for details!

Sidewalks built at Lakewood and Waldon

Sidewalks have been built at the intersection of Waldon Drive and Lakewood Drive, with the concrete poured on Tuesday morning. The 5-foot-wide sidewalks on both sides of Waldon stretch from the intersection nearly to the first cul-de-sacs (at Grass Hollow and the units at 7205 Waldon Drive). The project should make the intersection of Lakewood and Waldon safer for pedestrians from traffic entering the neighborhood at Loop 360. Many thanks to Lakewood HOA Board Member Michelle Polasek for working with the city to make it happen!

Tree limb clearance from February storm moves forward

UPDATE:  Phase 2 of the tree limb removal project is wrapping up, and crews hope to move forward with Phase 3 on Cave Hollow the week of July 23.

The removal of downed tree limbs and other debris from the February freeze is now underway in Lakewood. Work began this week in the Phase 1 area as shown on this map.

Important note:  Residents are asked not to enter the work area. Please contact the HOA office if you have any questions or concerns. Crews will stop work if others enter the work areas while they are present, for safety reasons.

Phase 1 is bounded by Lakewood Drive, Deer Hollow Lane and the boundary with the Creekbluff Drive neighborhood.

Homeowners voted overwhelmingly in June to approve a one-time assessment of $175 to pay for the cleanup, which is estimated to cost $75,000. The assessment has been mailed to homeowners.

Tree cleanup assessment gets homeowners’ OK

Remaining tree damage from the February ice storm in Lakewood should be removed starting soon, after homeowners voted overwhelmingly to approve a one-time assessment to pay for the cleanup.

Lakewood homeowners voted 145 to 18 for the HOA to assess a $175 charge to each homeowner-household for the project. The vote was tallied at the Lakewood HOA annual meeting on June 3.

The project is estimated to cost $75,000. The assessment will be mailed to homeowners starting in about a week.

HOA board members Michelle Polasek and Lee Rutledge also were reelected to new terms on the board.

Thanks to all who participated and voted, and congratulations to Michelle and Lee!
