Starting today, the Austin Water Utility will be painting all 20+ fire hydrants in the Lakewood community. The project may take some time to complete but don’t be surprised if you see some painting work being done on a fire hydrant near you.

Vehicle Speeds on Lakewood
Earlier this year the HOA purchased and installed a vehicle speed informational billboard along Lakewood Drive. It’s been running for three months and we’ve gathered some interesting information. Most importantly, most people driving in our community are driving close to the speed limit of 30 miles per hour. Making the speed of vehicles visible to drivers hopefully results in people being aware of their speed and slowing down as they head through the community.
Below is a graph of the traffic speeds recorded during the five-week period of July 29, 2019 through September 1, 2019.
And, the following graph shows the volume of traffic going down Lakewood broken down by the time of day. Not surprisingly, our traffic volume is greatest in the mornings, spiking between 7am and 9am.
Saturday, October 26th set for Lakewood Semi-Annual Garage Sale
Lakewood’s community-wide semi-annual garage sale is scheduled for Saturday, October 26th, from 8am to noon. Typically, more than 30 households participate and hundreds of buyers are attracted to the community.
Here’s how it works: you conduct your own sale at your own home on your own terms. The HOA coordinates the scheduling and promotions. This way, instead of having dozens of smaller sales scattered around the neighborhood throughout the year, we coordinate our efforts to have more people come all on one morning. This keeps traffic to a minimum in the neighborhood the rest of the year.
Participation in the garage sale is free. Lakewood HOA will place an ad in Craigslist and place a sign at Lakewood’s main entrance. You may also place a small sign in your front yard if you want. Please remove the front yard signs by 1pm.

The next monthly HOA meeting is on Monday, September 9 at 6:30pm at the Lakewood Clubhouse. The meeting’s agenda is available online to review.
Monthly meetings are usually held the first Monday of each month. Lakewood residents are welcome to attend.
