Meet the candidates for mayor, City Council District 10 on Wednesday

There’s another chance to meet candidates for Austin mayor and City Council District 10 this Wednesday evening at St. Matthew’s church at 4121 Steck Ave. American-Statesman reporter Tony Plohetski will serve as moderator. Candidates for Austin ISD’s at-large position and Austin Community College Place 9 positions will also sit at tables in the audience. See the flyer for details and register here. This is an excellent chance to learn more about our candidates.

The fall garage sale is back – Oct. 5!

UPDATE: The list of garage sales is out. Not everyone signs up, but the two on the list are at 6501 Robbie Creek (with women’s clothes, shoes, baby and kids’ clothes and toys, household items and a few pieces of furniture) and 6100 Gardenridge (a new washing machine). The list is also in the flyer box outside the HOA office.

Lakewood’s communitywide spring garage sale is scheduled for 8 a.m. to to noon Saturday, Oct. 5 in garages across our community.

Lakewood residents hold their own garage sales at their homes, and the HOA will provide a list of addresses where sales are being held. If you plan to hold a sale at your house, please email your street address to the HOA office at hoa@lakewoodhoa.com by noon Wednesday, Oct. 2 (or drop it in the door slot on the office door).

It’s optional, but feel free to include one line describing what you’re selling. A few days before the sale date, the office will provide a list of addresses where sales will be held. You don’t need to give your name. The list will be available on Lakewood’s Facebook page and the Lakewood website.

(Tip: the sales that drew the best turnout in last spring’s garage sales seemed to be those with stuff in the driveway or front yard.) See you around the neighborhood!

Lakewood to host ‘Night Out’ event Oct. 1

Tuesday, Oct. 1 is National Night Out in Texas. The goal is to get to know our neighbors and enhance the relationship between our community and law enforcement.

Lakewood HOA will host a neighborhood block party from 5pm to 8pm at the HOA Park/Clubhouse.

The Austin Police Department is scheduled to attend.

Pizza, chips and drinks will be provided.

Any questions, please email hoa@lakewoodhoa.com
